KROSNO, as group of related units, is the biggest and most well-known glass producer in the glass industry in the country. It is the sole producer or dominates in the production of seven groups of products out of eight produced in the country. No other producer or group of related producers based in Poland produces such a wide and varied range of products and such a rich and constantly extended assortment and patterns. KROSNO dominates the domestic market in deliveries of hand-made household glassware. Other smaller glass factories are based in different parts of Poland (near Lublin, Radomsko, Tarnów, Piotrków Trybunalski) and in the region of Krosno and the area. Similarly, KROSNO dominates in deliveries of machine-made household glass (a wide range of tumblers and glasses) being one of two major producers of this assortment. Production of household pressed glass is the activity of small meaning and a marginal share in the market.
KROSNO Capital Group is the sole producer of fiberglass, selected assortments of mechanically formed technical glass (pipes, bars), pressed and hand-made protective glass (different lamp shades, different meter covers, etc.), pressed and hand-made signaling glass (reflectors, lenses, signaling lampshades etc.), and pressed household glass including antique stained glass.
KROSNO Capital Group is also the biggest exporter in its branch – a recognized supplier to the so-called “Western foreign markets” (mainly the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Spain, and France). KROSNO, as a dominating company, has been exporting its products since 1953, HS Jasło since 1959 and HSG Tarnów actually from the beginning of its foundation, i.e. since 1934. KROSNO Capital Group exports products from each of eight existing assortment groups. KROSNO Capital Group is the sole Polish exporter of such products as: fiberglass, selected assortment of technical glass, illuminating, signaling and stained glass – in Poland KROSNO is their sole manufacturer.
The most important export article – the company’s showcase – is hand-made household glassware, which is produced by „KROSNO” S.A. and HSG „TARNÓW” S.A.
Both on domestic and foreign markets, KROSNO Capital Group products compete with the rivals thanks to high quality and up-to-date designs. The average number of new patterns of hand-made, machine-made and pressed household glassware designed by our designers for the last few years is about 7-10 thousand per year. During the first half of 2005, KHS KROSNO S.A. designers prepared over 4,800 new designs (patterns) and nearly 1,400 new designs in HSG TARNOW S.A.
On the foreign markets, KROSNO Capital Group is exposed to competition of inexpensive hand-made household glassware produced by companies located in South-East Asia, China, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Turkey, as well as inexpensive fiberglass from China, Korea, Taiwan, and also the Czech Republic, Germany, Finland, Belarus and Latvia. In the field of machine-made household glassware, KROSNO is exposed to severe competition of products from Turkey, France and the Czech Republic. On the domestic market, especially in the field of machine-made household glassware and fiberglass, KROSNO is exposed to competition of cheap imported products and its cheap substitutes.
